Like a really big deal!
You're trusting someone to capture those priceless memories that you and your children's children will look back on. You're about to hand someone a large amount of money and you need to be sure that your photographer will not only end up with beautiful images you want to display but will also not add any more stress to your big day. In fact, your photographer must be there to help make your day LESS stressful! So here are a couple of things to keep in mind when choosing your wedding photographer.
Let's talk budget. This is most likely number one for you. Unless the sky is the limit for you, you have a photography budget, and dropping $10k on photos isn't realistic! Whatever your budget is find a photographer in that price range and with a style you love! A Google search of "wedding photographer in my area is a great place to start. Also don't be scared to tell a photographer "you're over my budget." We appreciate not being ghosted and can probably give you some names of amazing photographers that will be able to work better with you.
Internet vs. Real life. As photographers, we tend to showcase our best work here because we are looking to attract clients just like you. But all the work you don't see must be just as consistent as what you do see. Don't be afraid to ask to see some recent wedding galleries to get a better idea of the kind of photos captured and to make sure all the photo quality is similar to what you are seeing publicly.
