To Ask Your Wedding Photographer...

You're looking for a wedding photographer! YAY!

After you have found out if your wedding date is available and have looked over the wedding photographer's portfolio, price packages, and contract, here are four key questions you should ask before taking the last step and booking with them.

1. Can we see the total galleries of a few of your recent weddings?

The best way to get an idea of what a photographer can do is by looking at their work! This is an essential question because it will give you a good idea of how the photographer operates. You can see if they take good consistent images, whether their style matches what you're looking for, and if they can capture moments that are important to you as a couple. You also want to ensure that they have a wide range of photos so that you have some variety in your wedding gallery.

2. Have you ever shot a wedding at our venue?

This will help you determine whether or not they're familiar with your location; if they've worked there before, they probably know what shots will work best there and probably have some great ideas on where and how to get the best photos. If they haven't worked there, ask them how they plan on getting acquainted with it so that they can make sure everything goes smoothly on your big day!

3. How would you describe your working photography style?

You'll want to know what type of experience they offer, how they handle things like family portraits and candid moments, and whether they are more of a go-with-the-flow or if they do a lot of setting up for more posed artist shots. Also, are they hands-on and willing to keep things moving, or do they pride themselves in being a fly on the wall and not super noticeable?

4. Do you carry backup equipment?

This is so important to make sure of as it will help ensure that if something goes wrong with one piece of equipment, they can simply trade it out and move on with the day as if nothing happened. You do not want a photographer who does not at least carry a backup camera and lens.
